Sesamoiditis is inflammation of the small bones located under the first joint of the big toe. These small round bones are located in the tendons that run to the big toe. Inflammation of the sesamoid bones and tendons can occur from repetitive activities and stress of running or foot pronation causing pain to the plantar forefoot, ball of the foot, and under the big toe.
Dr. Batson successfully treats sesamoiditis using the K-Laser Class IV therapeutic laser to reduce the inflammation and pain by delivering red and near-infrared wavelengths of light energy to induce a photochemical and therapeutic effect on the foot and toe tissues.
